Forum Topic (bbPress)

One topic, its replies and the box to add another. Members never place this screen: it is opened by tapping a row in any bbPress forum list, and the app adds it for you when you place one.

Replies are listed oldest first, with the reply box at the bottom. Their formatting comes through, and a link in the topic or a reply opens the matching screen in your app or the in-app browser — see Links in posts.

Threaded replies are off in bbPress by default. With them on, a Reply link appears under each comment and answers are indented beneath it. With them off — which is how a fresh bbPress install arrives — every reply is flat, and the app draws no indent rather than a ladder the site cannot produce.

A closed topic hides the reply box and says so, unless you can moderate.

A star saves the topic (bbPress calls it a favorite) and a bell subscribes to it. Each appears only when your site has that option switched on — not greyed out but absent, because a control that can never work is worse than none.

If your role allows it, a ⋯ menu carries exactly the actions that apply to that post right now — close a topic that is open, reopen one that is closed, pin, unpin, approve, spam, trash and restore. The same menu appears on each reply with the verbs that apply to a reply.

The reply box suggests members to @mention and #hashtags. A mentioned member is notified, once per post. See Mentions and hashtags.
