Add it to your app
Section titled “Add it to your app”- Drag Search onto a navigation bar. It works well in the upper nav or as a top-nav item, where a magnifier is expected.
- Open its settings and choose which types to search.

Search types need their backing feature
Section titled “Search types need their backing feature”The types available come from your site. A type only makes sense if the app can open a result — searching posts is useless when tapping a result goes nowhere.
Before enabling a type, place the feature that opens it:

A Jobs result matches a published job’s title, description or company name, shows the company, its logo and the location, and opens the Job screen. Filled jobs are left out when JobBoardWP’s Hide filled jobs is on, except a member’s own.
Hashtags
Section titled “Hashtags”With Hashtags among the result types, searching trail also lists the tags
that start with it, and searching #trailrun shows that tag’s posts first, one
tab per kind of post: activity wall and group posts, BuddyPress activity, and
forum topics. Each opens in its own screen. A tag tapped inside a post opens this
screen on it. See Mentions and hashtags.
Leaving Result types untouched offers every type, Hashtags included. If you have already chosen types, tick Hashtags to add it. Without it, tags in posts show as plain text. This needs the Memberside plugin 2.96.0 or later.
How members are found
Section titled “How members are found”On a BuddyPress site without Ultimate Member, a search finds members by name and by the profile details the person searching is allowed to see. A detail a member shared with friends only finds them for their friends and nobody else, and one set to Only Me finds them for nobody but your site’s admins, so a search never reveals what a member hid. This needs the Memberside plugin 2.75.0 or later on your site. On BuddyBoss, its own search already works this way.
What your members see
Section titled “What your members see”A search field and results grouped by type. Members are shown with their avatars, using the same User Lists styling as the directory.
Recent searches are kept so a member returning to the screen can repeat one without retyping.
When it does not work
