This is a background feature. It adds an indicator to existing screens rather than creating one.

What your members see
Section titled “What your members see”A presence indicator beside members who are online.
It is most useful in the member directory and in Chat-adjacent screens, where knowing whether someone is around changes whether a member bothers to reach out.
How “online” is decided
Section titled “How “online” is decided”By your site, not by the app. Ultimate Member - Online Users decides the window of activity that counts as online, and the app shows what your site reports.
A member who closed the app is not necessarily offline immediately — they are offline once your site’s window expires.
When it does not work
Section titled “When it does not work”| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No indicator anywhere | No context is selected | Choose directories, forms, groups or activity |
| The card is greyed out | UM - Online Users is inactive | Activate it |
| It will not drop | One is already placed | Check the Background tab |
| Everyone appears offline | Your site’s online window, or the Users group is off | Check both |
| Someone appears online after leaving | The window has not expired | Adjust it in Ultimate Member |
