Groups related items in the side drawer under one expandable heading.

Sidebar only. It cannot go on any other navigation bar.

Add it to your app

1. Open the Side Nav tab.
2. Drag Parent Menu onto it.
3. Give it a Title — this is the group heading members see.
4. Drag up to five features into it.

Up to five children. The limit keeps an expanded group readable on a phone rather than pushing everything else off the screen.

Whether the heading shows a disclosure arrow is set app-wide, under Sidebar Sub-navigation Arrow in Appearance.

When to group

A drawer of six items does not need grouping. A drawer of fifteen is a list nobody reads, and grouping turns it into four or five things people can scan.

Group by what members are trying to do, not by which plugin provides it. “Groups, My Groups, Create Group” is one heading called Groups; splitting them by plugin would be an accurate description of your site and a useless menu.

Restrictions apply to the whole group

Restricting a Parent Menu hides the heading and everything in it. A child with its own restriction is hidden individually — but if the parent is hidden, so is the child, whatever the child allows.

If a group heading disappears for some members, check the parent’s restrictions before the children’s.
