Dark Mode

Toggles your app’s theme. Tapping it switches between light and dark rather than opening a screen, and the member’s choice persists.

Set both palettes under Settings → Appearance before you offer this. A dark palette left at its defaults while the light one is branded makes the toggle look like a bug.

Drag Dark Mode into the side drawer, alongside settings and sign-out. That is where members look for preferences.

The upper nav bar is reasonable if you have a spare slot and your members switch often. A bottom-nav slot is a poor use of one of eight.

The app switches theme immediately. The choice is remembered between sessions, overriding the Default Mode you set in the builder.

Without this feature placed, your Default Mode is what everyone gets.

Follow the device as your Default Mode is usually enough. Members who want dark have already told their phone, and an app that honours that needs no toggle.

Offer the toggle when your Default Mode is an explicit light or dark — because then some members are getting the opposite of what they asked their phone for.

See Dark mode in the app.
