Connections
Where members handle friend requests: the ones waiting for them, and the ones they have sent.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”| Plugin | Ultimate Member - Friends |
| Endpoint group | Friends |
| Plan | Every plan |
Add it to your app
Section titled “Add it to your app”Drag Connections onto a navigation bar or into the side drawer, beside Friends.
Place this if you place Friends at all. A friends list with no way to accept a request is a screen that can only ever get emptier.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Title, Description | Shown at the top | Empty |
| Restrictions | Which roles see the tab | Everyone |
What your members see
Section titled “What your members see”Incoming requests with accept and reject actions, and outgoing requests they have sent. Accepting adds the member to both friends lists.
Tapping a member opens their profile, so a request can be judged before it is accepted.
Notifications make it useful
Section titled “Notifications make it useful”A request screen only works if members know to look at it. With Notifications placed, a request produces a notification; without it, requests sit unanswered until someone happens to open this tab.
When it does not work
Section titled “When it does not work”| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The screen is empty | No requests are pending | Expected |
| Empty for everyone | The Friends group is off | Enable it |
| The card is greyed out | UM - Friends is inactive | Activate it |
| Accepting does nothing | The request was withdrawn | Pull to refresh |
| Members never see requests | No Notifications feature is placed | Place one |
